What to Expect During Your Group Mindfulness Skills-Training:

Stress and anxiety continue to be a persistent part of our lives, even as the world reopens. Throughout the past two years, we faced challenges we could have never imagined. Some we overcame, and some we continue to work through. This 8-week group series will guide you through a curriculum that teaches tools for responding mindfully to challenges in order to reduce overall suffering. While we cannot control the adversity we are faced with, we can certainly control how we respond.

Mindfulness changed my life. In ways I had hoped for, and ways I never anticipated. This is why I bring mindfulness to my clients: I believe in it.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is traditionally an 8-week course that guides a group of curious individuals through incorporating mindfulness practices into their daily life. This curriculum was originally developed by John Kabat-Zinn, an internationally recognized leader in mindfulness and mental health. I completed my training in MBSR at the Mindful Academy in Valencia, Spain and since then have adapted the traditional group curriculum to a 1:1 format. This allows me to intimately guide you through mindfulness practices and strategies for leading a calmer, less reactive life.

Have you noticed that when you are anxious, depressed, scared, etc.. your mind is everywhere except the present moment? Through developing a capacity to be still, tune into our body and environment, we empower ourselves to no longer be victim to our thoughts.

It’s incredible, I promise you! And, it’s challenging.

Learning how to develop a mindfulness practice is critical. This is why I will refer to this modality of therapy as “skills-training”. Together, we will review practices and strategies for adopting a more mindful approach to every day life. Specific strategies include skills for managing stress in the moment, slowing down racing thoughts, and reducing tension/discomfort in the body.
